Key Challenges
Valiu was a startup inteded to help venezuelans send money from latam countries back to Venezuela with crypto and blockchain involved. Valiu didn't know what their customers were, and they were trying to gain traction to apply for YC combinator summer batch of 2019. They had roughly ∼800 trash users and pretty much friends and family transactions. The objective was to dump the previous poitless app and design something on fire that could solve venezuelans real problems when sending money abroad.
Outcome
The company estimated a $15 billion market and was growing 7-10% month over month. The user experience flow design made possible to raise 1.2MM USD in a series A funding round from YC, we grew from a ∼800 user base to +10K in over a year, also allowing us to raise an additional 5MM USD in a series A venture capital investment by 2020.
Highlights
I stablished a lightweight Design System, and together with product and dev we brought down the app from 150mb to 15mb, taking reference from what uber lite was doing in india. Decreasing assets, using a symbols icon font, improving accesibility and user flows for second to none performance.
